ARCH Encapsulates Sensitive Power and Control Modules for Extended Service Life

Sensitive electrical components and assemblies are often exposed to extreme environmental conditions and high levels of stress. The encapsulated AC/DC PCB modules from Arch, available from DEHNER Elektronik, offer effective protection against moisture, vibration, and unauthorized access – significantly extending service life.

To ensure long-term reliability, protect sensitive electronics, and provide insulation, Arch encapsulates its modules. “We use a potting compound with high thermal conductivity and low coefficient of expansion, making it particularly well-suited for delicate electrical and electronic components,” explains Michael Peng of Arch Electronics Corp. In addition, the specialists for chargers and power supplies ensure that no air pockets remain inside the modules thanks to a special vacuum potting process – further enhancing product quality and MTBF.

Encapsulated modules are not only protected against thermal and environmental influences, as Josef Dehner, Managing Director of DEHNER Elektronik GmbH, explains. The electronics are vibration-resistant during and after transport and installation and are safely shielded from contact, mechanical damage, and moisture. Furthermore, encapsulation protects intellectual property and design know-how, as the circuitry is not visible.

ARCH-brand PCB modules are available in various power classes and with up to three output voltages. A compact design is crucial, allowing more space for additional components on the PCB. Thanks to their high power density, ARCH modules are available in extremely small form factors. These robust components are used in applications such as automotive systems, mechanical and plant engineering, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and medical devices.

For medical applications in particular, ARCH offers high-performance modules in compact housings with high efficiency. These modules are 2MOPP-isolated and meet the highest safety class for use in patient environments. Their excellent startup behavior supports high capacitive loads. Multiple mounting options and a wide operating temperature range from –40 °C to +70 °C further extend the application range. Compliance with EN 55022 Class B, RoHS, and REACH is ensured, as well as full conformity with medical standard EN 60601 Edition 3.1. The modules are also UL-listed.
