Information on Electrical and Electronic Equipment

The following information is intended for end users of electrical and/or electronic equipment. Please observe these important instructions in the interest of environmentally sound disposal of waste equipment and for your own safety.

Disposal Instructions and the Meaning of the Symbol According to Annex 3 of the German Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG):

Owners of waste equipment are obliged to collect such devices separately from unsorted municipal waste. Electrical and electronic waste must therefore not be disposed of as unsorted household waste and, in particular, must not be placed in the regular household bin. Instead, such devices must be collected separately and disposed of via local collection and return systems.

Owners of waste equipment are also required to remove used batteries and accumulators not enclosed in the waste device before handing it in at a collection point.

This does not apply if the waste equipment is separated from other devices by public waste management authorities in accordance with § 14(5), sentences 2 and 3 of the ElektroG for the purpose of preparing it for reuse. Devices that must be collected separately from unsorted municipal waste can be identified by the symbol specified in Annex 3 of the ElektroG. This symbol – a crossed-out wheeled bin – indicates the separate collection of electrical and electronic equipment and is designed as follows:

Information on the Return of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment:

Owners of waste equipment can dispose of it through the collection and return systems provided by local public waste authorities to ensure proper disposal. In some cases, it may also be possible to return devices for reuse. Please check with your local collection or return point for more information.
